ABOUT THE ZINE
Stay Tooned Zine was created out of the idea of making a huge thank you letter to all of our favorite cartoons we've grown up with! This zine will hold all kinds of illustrations, focusing on cartoons from the 80's to 2000's! This will be a physical zine with merch, and all profits will go to the Okra Project!
MEET THE MODS!
Cherri
Hi I’m Cherri! This is my first time modding for a zine after being a part of multiple zines in the past! I love cartoons and want to be able to work in the industry someday, I love drawing and I wanted to show some love to the cartoons me and many others on the team grew up watching. I’m very excited to see so many people excited to work on a zine I randomly came up with one day! I’ll be doing the original Teen Titans as I remember being so in love with the characters and the story arcs that you didn’t see a lot in cartoons during the time. Very excited to be working on this!!
Pizza
Hey, the name's Pizza! I'm one of the mods brought in to help make this whole thing possible! I've modded on 2 zines, and shipped for one of them! Like everyone, I loved cartoons my whole life, and it always amazed me how animation can be used to tell an in depth, enthralling story, or to just show us a wacky adventure with friends. I'll be doing Sonic X, as I remember the show blooming my love for the whole franchise. I'm so excited to be a part of this project and I hope everyone loves what we got cooking!
Kaleb
Hiyo, Kaleb here! I like long walks on beaches and.... Wait that's not what this is for? #%!& Animation is one of my favorite mediums. I think everyone on the team would agree that these cartoons shaped a part of who we are today. ATLA, SpongeBob, Teen Titans, Powerpuff Girls, and countless others all are a part of our childhood. The fact these shows still find ways to bring people together in 2020 is incredible. I wouldn't be an artist if it wasn't for these spectacular shows and stories. It's an honor to get to bring so many talented people together and express our love for these cartoons for an amazing cause. This zine is going to be most excellent!
John
Hello, I’m John! I’m one of the mods and the creator of Hugo the Cat, the cereal loving cat mascot for this zine. I was raised on Powerpuff Girls VHS tapes (because we didn’t have those channels as a kid), so whenever I went over to my friends I definitely was one of those kids that wanted to watch cartoons instead of playing. I’ll be making a Johnny Bravo piece for this zine, because I just love the style and Johnny as a character, and he’s a true Cartoon Network classic. So stoked for this zine and to see everyone’s pieces!
Woudi
Hi I'm Woudi! I’m a French artist that lives in Canada. I grew up with cartoons and in cartoons studios too since my parents both work in animation. I was really lucky to hang out in the studio as a kid, and it really made me love cartoons a lot. I've worked in animation for 3 years and I now work in video games, but animation is still very important to me.
